I hope all our members are well and like the new members only Facebook page. I don’t know about you all but I think March seems to have passed in a flash.
The Trustees have been busy again behind the scenes going through policies and planning future events for you as members. We have agreed on three updated policies which will be available for you as members to see, these are GDPR, Adult Safeguarding and Child Safeguarding.
Lisa has been actively working her way through a bunch of webinars and online courses and set up the first Just Giving Team Fundraising Page for us. Active in April is currently running and we have 30 team members who have signed up for the challenge. We are pleased to announce that the funds raised as of today is £2165. We are blown away with the support we have received with this challenge. We love the community feel of the Facebook page and love to see members posting pictures of their walks and see members of the group interacting and encouraging each other.
The Trustees have also been doing lots of courses over the month of March. I would like to thank all of the other Trustees for undertaking these as they were a few hours at a time to complete and they have completed 4.
There was a discussion during the month regarding the now Community group and this resulted in us handing this back over the volunteers to run to serve the wider Sturge Weber Community. This group has been set up and we hope that you are finding the information we are posting useful. If there is anything you specifically want us to feature on please let us know.
The Trustees met with Lynn Buchanan and Karen Slack, as they were two of the original founding members of Sturge Weber UK. We had a discussion about how the Charity came about and what direction they would like us to take. We thank both Lynn and Karen very much for taking their time to talk to us and share their opinions. We must have sounded like we were going in a direction they like because we managed to talk Lynn back into joining the Trustees. We are delighted to see her back on board.

We are working with few contacts to provide useful links and also provide us updates in their field of work. We are lucky to be working with:-
- The Chair of Halifax Society for the Blind
- A wellness and life coach
- A psychiatrist who works for CHAMS.
We are meeting with a Dr Ashok Jensari next week to see how he can help.
I would again like to thank the Trustees for all their hard work and dedication over the last few months. It is really a joy to work with you all and see the new exciting things which we will share with the members soon.
Finally we have released another Covid 19 Grant. This is still available so if you need to apply please do we want to hear from you and want to help you as members.
