Seren is our 19-month-old daughter who has bilateral Sturge Weber Syndrome and more recently a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. We were looking and looking for suitable interventions (if we even knew what that was so early in this journey) to help her with her movement disorder and lack of muscle tone.
We discovered that Seren loves the water…..kick kick kicking away without a care in the world which is how we try to encourage her to be in all things. We tried so very hard to seek out a hydrotherapy pool for use but following Covid, any that we found had either not returned to use because of the rising energy costs or when they had been turned back on week by week all the parts were failing…the pools weren’t reopening. We did find somewhere but it was not available for one off sessions and we wanted to optimise any opportunity we had. This was an offering of physio in a hydrotherapy pool.
We approached Sturge Weber UK via the Make a Difference Grant for a contribution towards the overall cost. Well blow me down, this amazing charity funded a package during which Seren enjoyed the kicks….not so much the resistant training but who ever made gains without effort! We would like to thank the charity and its members (because without the members there is no charity) for this amazing opportunity for Seren. # Inclusion and Opportunity always.
